Sea's The Day to make Selsey Shine!

On 30th November Selsey Town Council's Lantern Parade will be at the centre of this years' Christmas celebrations on 30th November - last year's parade saw 350 people taking part led by local school children, a great display of both festive and community spirit.

This year, Selsey Town Council incorporates its celebration of the local fishing industry into its Christmas preparations with the Sea's The Day project supporting two Willow Lantern Workshops in November using traditional materials.

Join in the fun by making your own willow lantern, Cllr Glenda Baum, chair of the Events Working Group explains further "We're delighted to team up with Creative Willow, who will be running the workshops at The Selsey Centre, using willow once locally harvested and used by Selsey fisherman as shown in the Sea's The Day project.  This will be a great opportunity to make your own traditional lantern to truly light up the evening on the 30th November!".

The workshops will take place on 9th and 16th of November at The Selsey Centre; lantern making tickets are only £2.00 each whilst accompanying parent/carer tickets can be booked free of charge.  Tickets can be booked at Selsey Town Council or online through Selsey Town Council Events

The Festive Lantern Parade will take place on 30th November as part of the Town Councils' Christmas Lights Event in Selsey High Street.  Meet at St Peter's Church at 4.30pm with the Lantern Parade setting off at 5pm.  All homemeade lanterns, torches and LED lights are welcome, there will be a limited supply of lantern bags available.

NOTE: A road closure will be in place from Lewis Road to Sweets & Treats in the High Street.
