Love Your Parks and enjoy the great outdoors!

Selsey comes together to celebrate its open spaces

With five parks across the town Selsey certainly isn't short of open spaces and this year Selsey Town Council will be celebrating the great outdoors with their first Love Your Parks event.

The event takes place over two days on 22nd and 23rd June at two popular spots to encourage the community to come and enjoy the green spaces and find out what else is on offer in the town.

Sue Osborne, Community Support & Events Coordinator for Selsey Town Council, has organized the event "We wanted to create an event to help the community reconnect with our green spaces and help those groups who currently use them and help to manage them showcase their work.  We're incredibly lucky to have so many parks in our town, our maintenance team work hard with local volunteer groups to manage them and they offer residents access to fitness, social and family activities".

Each day of the event will have a different theme.

Saturday 22nd June takes place at East Beach Pond and will focus on Wildlife and Conservation with activities from Manhood Wildlife & Heritage Group, Men In Sheds, East Beach Model Boat Club and much more.  A colouring competition for younger visitors will takes place with the prize sponsored by Chichester District Council, come along on the day to collect your picture!  Or why not take place in the family quiz trail!  Local ice cream bike vendor will be on site to cool you down or wander over to the East Beach Kiosk for a bite to eat!

Sunday 23rd June will be at Manor Green Park with the focus on Wellbeing and Activity; there will be live music in the sensory garden from local star Sylvia Rota (1pm to 2pm) and local sports/fitness groups providing taster sessions - ARO Kickboxing - Road Trip Yoga - K-Troo (adult taster sessionat 11.30am and 2.30pm) in the park as well as a free inflatable obstacle course for younger visitors donated by local company Bounceabout.  The Selsey Scouts, Chichester Scouts and 461 Air Cadets will be running activties and the local Slimming World group and Wellbeing teams will be on hand to give advice and guidance. Mulberry Divers will have their rock pool and diving challenge.  Ice Cream bike will be on site along with the Selsey & District Lion's team who will be cooking up a storm, or pop into the The Selsey Centre for other refreshments.

Selsey Town Council is delighted that local company Natures Way Foods Ltd are sponsoring the event, a representative for the company stated "Natures Way Foods have a thriving Community Programme and are proud to support local organisations that focus on Education, Sport and Healthy Living. Selsey is an important part of our heritage and our first home where we began 25 years ago, setting up a small bagged salad operation which has since grown to four sites. We feel that the Love Your Parks event is a great link to our brand and strategy and more importantly will bring the community together and we're proud to be part of that."
